Government investing £1 billion to address the growing waiting list, including cardiology

The British Heart Foundation have estimated that it will be 5 years before the patient backlog created by the pandemic will be cleared. In cardiology, the waiting list figure now stands at 225,000 patients, many of whom have increasingly complex needs, with this number predicted to rise by 40% by next spring.

The government has promised to invest a welcome £1 billion in funding to help clear the backlog but it is clear we need a proactive plan to rapidly implement proven innovation, with investment to improve the more efficient use of existing resource in order to support staff and patients, as well as future proof Cardiology in the NHS.

The CareCube software system has been proven to significantly improve efficiency in the treatment pathway for cardiac procedures and could be a vital tool in managing the predicted increased backlog.
